I'm a procurement manager at a 40-person transportation company.   2. Do you have tools and recent brake experience? If no, the DIY route will probably cost more than a shop.
  3. Is your in-house mechanic's time better spent on something else? If yes, outsource the brake job.
  4. Can the vendor commit to a completion time in writing? If not, treat their estimate as a best guess, not a plan.
